About Us
Tailwind Ranch originated in April 2006, when we purchased 196 acres of land in eastern Ellis County, Texas, east of the town of Ennis near the community of Telico (birthplace of Clyde Barrow, of Bonnie and Clyde fame). Although the property was badly neglected, we recognized its character and potential.
Following an infusion of blood, sweat, and tears, our vision rapidly became a reality. The ranch is especially beautiful in the spring - bluebonnets abound here. After all, there's a reason why nearby Ennis is called the Bluebonnet Capital of the World. Throughout the year, there is an ever-changing mix of wildflowers, wildlife, and other natural beauty.
When we bought the property, we had not decided what type of livestock we would raise. At the recommendation of a longtime Texas cattle family, we decided to concentrate on what many consider to be the hardiest, most majestic cattle known to man - the Texas Longhorn. With this decision, the Lindauer Longhorn Company was born. The Texas Longhorn is a living symbol of the Old West. This proud, docile animal is known for its longevity, calving ease, mothering skill, and browsing ability.
In addition to our registered Texas Longhorns, we breed registered Miniature Herefords. These cattle are very easily managed and are great beef producers. Miniature Herefords are ideal for owners of small properties that need to be kept in ag.
Whether your interest lies in Longhorns or Miniature Herefords, we'll be very happy to work with you on a private sale.
